French Chateau Wedding in Provence

French Chateau Wedding in Provence

There are many misconceptions about Chateau weddings in France, such as for example that having a castle wedding costs a fortune, or that you can’t have small weddings in big Chateau’s because they’re too grand, and even that beautiful castles can only be found around Paris and in the South West of France. All false!

Just look at this intimate wedding that I had the privilege of planning for Nancy & Tyler last year. As a French Riviera wedding planner, I have a long list of venues that I can propose to couples. But Nancy and Tyler wanted the venue to be somewhere historic, exceptionally beautiful, that could accommodate all of their guests and be situated not far from Nice International Airport. My mind immediately went to Chateau Robernier, which is only one and a half hours away from Nice and fits the description perfectly. The couple fell in love with it immediately!

The ceremony was held in front of the chateau, with a beautiful arch and white Napoleon chairs. The bride is a classical music player so there was no other option than a skilled string quartet for her walking down the aisle. Cocktail reception right off the ceremony, with lovely champagne, delicious canapés and food stations, followed by an amazing sit-down dinner in the castle yard. Each guest received a goody bag with handmade items from Une Pincée de Provence. The guests absolutely loved the lavender soap and artisanal rose petal candy.

The colors of the wedding were burgundy, light pink, white and light peach – I love it when my brides aren’t afraid of color! Just by adding one bright shade to the traditional white and cream setting can really uplift and bring more character to your design.

As the evening advanced and the reception area was only illuminated by the moon and the string lights (which are an absolute game-changer to any event), guests enjoyed the rest of the night inside the castle, dancing until morning!

Because Chateau Robernier has 12 beautiful bedrooms, that are included in the hire price – all guests were able to sleep on site and start the next day with a lovely brunch and a pool afternoon before they had to leave. The venue is owned by a very nice couple who live on the French Riviera. There is a team of staff on site at your service – who will take care of your luggage, have some fresh coffee for the early birds and on call for anything you may need, like toiletries, towels or anything else.

It is definitely in my list of top wedding venues in South of France also because I can plan additional activities around it, if the couple and their guests have time to stay a bit longer in France. We could include boat trips, visit the lavender fields, check out the legendary calanques or go for some wine tasting!
